Bulan is still in the quarantine enclosure because he may have TB. Bulan is with the other infants that also may have TB. TB is a dangerous disease that can never be completely cured.
Even though Bulan is healthy now, this only means that the disease is in a dormant condition. A relapse is still very possible and therefore TB suspect individuals can't mix with other orangutans, so a special TB sanctuary is being investigated. Bulan gets along really well with Carmen, Suma and Bella. They wrestle and play ball together. The ball is an enrichment tool, deliberately created and placed in the enclosure to prevent orangutans from getting bored, as well as to improve their response. Bulan rarely gets sick. She eats well and very healthy. She is active, energetic and very independent.
