Chocolate until recently has been sharing his cage with Rahul, however since March 2013 he had to be housed alone, as Rahul needs to be taken daily to clinic to receive treatment for his infected wound. However being alone in the cage has made Chocolate become more independent.
The staff do however let the cage's interconnecting sliding-door open a bit so he still able interact with his neighbours in the next cage - Hutan and Adel. Chocolate still does not interact a lot with his keepers, keeping up his independent spirit. He is now starting to use leaves as a nest, a great skill for his eventual release and has a good appetite - morning milk is one of his favourite! He also has no medical events of note in the last several months and is growing up a fit and healthy orangutan.
