The beginning of October was a very busy time with 2 events planned by “Team Brown Banana”. The Mask Ball was a great success and even though we would have liked more people attend the Simian Seminar, Leo had the audience listening to his every word!
Pictures below give a brief look at the weekend’s events with the team raising just over $5000 to go towards the International Animal Rescue team in Ketapang.

The aims of the IAR Rescue Unit are to provide a quick response for the rescue of orangutans:
Relocate orangutans from isolated and fragmented areas of forest where populations are not viable and orangutans are in risk of being killed, hunted or captured, to protected forested areas or to the Rescue Centre in West Kalimantan if needed, assist the authorities in the implementation of law enforcement programs carrying out confiscations of orangutans in captivity and alleviate the conflict between humans and orangutans.
Congratulations to the team, Leisa, Paul, Owen, Ness, Jenny and Ellen for a great first major event. Picture shows Team Brown Banana with Leo (missing Ellen)
On Sunday the 12th the Brisbane team of Marion, Gina and Helen set up their stall at the second Green Heart Fair for the year, the weather was perfect with lots of people mingling amongst the stalls and activities.
Things will be a bit quiet on the Brisbane Team front in the next few months as we are still looking for a State Representative. Check out the job description here if you would like to become part of a great charity!
