Monti continues to excel in forest school with great nest building, climbing and foraging skills. All of these will be needed for her to be a potential release candidate.
Although she enjoys playing with the other orangutans in forest school, she is very independent and can often be found playing alone. Orangutans are mostly solitary in the wild so it is very positive that Monti is relaxed and confident enough to spend time alone.
Monti loves playing with the hessian sacks, covering herself in one and then creeping up on her caregiver to give them a cheeky bite.
Although Monti has a very rough and tough character she hates to get dirty and will not get involved when the other orangutans are playing in the mud or dirt. She loves her food and now weighs 19kg.
